Bone Soup by Cambria Evans
Main Character: Finnigin the Eater
Theme: In this book by Cambria Evans titled Bone Soup, Finnigin the Eater was hungry and he wanted some food. It was Halloween and he was traveling to a new town. Word of his arrival spread and the townspeople, monsters and witches all, decided that they were not going to share with The Eater. Undaunted, he took out a magic bone and started bone soup. Reminiscent of Stone Soup, Bone Soup also covers themes of persuaded generosity and cooperation. There is an unspoken moral to the story, but any child should be able to figure it out by the end.
Illustrations: Nate (6) states that the illustrations were kind of scary, but in a good way. He said that it wouldn’t give him nightmares.
Review: Nate (6) states that he really likes this book, because all of the creatures danced in the end as they ate the soup. He states that it wasn’t a hard book to read and he thinks it was a good book. Sammi (4) said that it was a good book and that there were lots of monsters in the book.
All in all, this was a book that I would recommend.
